License Manager

License Managers of AvisMap GIS series products have uniform interface styles and operation procedures, here AvisMap Viewer 5 license manager was made as an example to explain the setting procedure. AvisMap GIS series products provide three methods of protection: stand-alone key, network key and license file.

The first two methods require installation drivers since they are hardware keys. When installing the stand-alone key, the software will guide you through the process. But for the network key, users must install the driver and corresponding Licenses Server on the computer which works as a Server (the installation can be found in the Driver content of AvisMap GIS setup CD 1). After successful installation of the driver, the hardware key can be plugged-in the parallel port or USB port of the computer.

For a regular work place such as an office using a LAN, we recommend using a network key; And for a personal user, a stand-alone key is sufficient.

1. Install the stand-alone key

(1) Run "Start > Program > AvisMap > AvisMap License Manager", or run SmLicManager.exe in the directory of System disk:\Program Files\Common Files\AvisMap. Then the Select HardKey Type dialog box will be displayed.

(2) Select "Stand-alone key" and then click Next. The Stand-alone Setup dialog box will be displayed.

If there is no driver for the hardware key on the computer, the dialog box will appear with information "Unknown Driver Type: 140.140.48"(according to different computer, the number will be different). After installing the driver, the version of the driver will be displayed. For the user without a driver, please run Sentinel Protection Installer 7.1.0.exe in the Driver content of AvisMap GIS setup CD 1 to install the driver.

(3) Once you have successfully installed the driver, plug-in the hardware key to finish the installation.

Tip: If the hardware key has a USB port, you can test the results in "System Manager" under the operating system after having finished the installation. Once you pass the test, "Rainbow USB AvisPro" will be displayed in the "System Manager", otherwise your hardware key installation is unsuccessful.

2. Install the Network Key

Setup the server

(1) Run Sentinel Protection Installer 7.1.0.exe in setup disk CD1 to install network key.

(2) Click Next to continue installing the network key. The following steps are the same as the steps of the windows installation, which include protocol agreement, choosing the installation directory, types, etc.

(3)If it is required to restart your computer after having finished the installation, please do it just as the guide shows.

(4) Once you have successfully installed the driver, plug-in the hardware key to finish the installation of a general network key.

(5) Once installation of the hardware key is completed, find the file "Sentinel Protection Server" by opening the server management tool in Windows "Control Panel -> Manager Tool -> Servers". The server is the service routine for network key. Generally, the system will automatically run this service after installation is completed. If not, please use the toolbar or click the Shortcut from the right button to start it.

(6) Once the network key service is started, the user can monitor the working conditions by visiting 6002 port of the server (http://server name:6002, to insure your visit, Java Runtime must have been installed).

Setup the client

(1) Run "Start > Program > AvisMap > License Tool", or run SmLicManager.exe in the directory of System disk:\Program Files\Common Files\AvisMap. Then the "Select HardKey Type" dialog box will be displayed.

(2) Select "Network Key" and click Next for the next step to setup the server name, communication mode, etc.

(3) Setup the parameters correctly and click Finish to complete the network key installation.

3. License File

(2) Please provide the identification code which is got from the program automatically (or computer name), user company and username to AvisMap Company in order to get the product's license.
