Command

Attribute -> Point

Command Reference

Creates one or more point dataset by picking up X, Y (Z) coordinates from an attribute table to create points.

Procedure

  1. Choose Dataset > Convert > Attribute -> Point, then the Attribute -> Point dialog box will display.
  2. Select source datasource and dataset that provides coordinates.
  3. Select target datasource to save your target dataset.
  4. Type a name for the target dataset.
  5. Select X, Y (Z) coordinates.
  6. Click the Create button.

It is allowed to batch convert more than one dataset. For every dataset, after you having set the parameters, click the Add button to add them to the list one by one; click OK after finishing the settings, thus you can create many a point datasets at once. Also, you can use the Remove button to remove some items from the list box.

Note

It is allowed to use longitude and latitude to express points. But because the format of XY(Z) fields is double-precision, only degree can be used as the unit, and the datasource to store the new dataset must be under the Geographic Coordinate System.
