- Insert the setup CD 1 of AvisMap GIS products into CD-ROM such
as the E-drive to automatically launch the setup dialog box.
- Click the Install AvisMap GIS 5 button, then the selectable
products will be displayed. Click the AvisMap Deskpro 5 button to
prepare to install.
- After finishing the preparation, the Welcome dialog box will be
displayed. Click Next button to continue the installation, or click
Cancel to quit the installation.
- The License Agreement dialog box will be displayed. Read the
end-user license agreement carefully, then choose "I accept," and
then click Next to continue, otherwise click Cancel to exit.
- The Information dialog box will be displayed. Read the
installation description carefully and click Next if your computer
meets the requirements.
- In the Customer Information dialog box, type the user name and
company and then click Next.

The information in this dialog box will be permanent; they will
be shown in the system's About dialog box. Please make sure the
accuracy of the information given because it cannot be changed
unless you uninstall the product.
- In the Choose Destination Location dialog box, click Next for
the default installation location. Or click the Change button to
choose a new path and then click Next.
- Specify the needed setup type in the Setup Type dialog box and
click Next.
Three setup types for AvisMap Deskpro 5 are provided: Typical,
Compact, and Custom. For Compact option, it only installs the basic
functions of AvisMap GIS 5 products and can save disk space; For
Typical option, it installs all functions in common use and is
recommended for the normal users; For Custom option, it is strongly
recommended for professional users to customize personalized
choices.
- Type a new file name or accept the default in the pop up window
and click Next to continue.
- Check the current set-up carefully. Click Back to return for
any change, otherwise click Next to continue further.
- If it is needed for you to use SDM in AvisMap, Microsoft Data
Access Component 2.7 or a higher version and Microsoft XML SDK 4.0
or Microsoft DirectX 9 are required. And when completed the above
installation, you will be asked whether to install them. If yes,
select which to install and click Next. If you want to install them
later, you can find them in the Support folder of the installation
file. Microsoft MDAC 2.8 is the default for AvisMap GIS 5.
Therefore, in the following steps, we use Microsoft Data Access
Component 2.8 (MDAC 2.8) as an example to finish the
installation.
- As it is required to install MDAC 2.8 and Microsoft XML SDK
4.0, when completed the installation, you will be asked to install
them. Accept to install these two softwares and click Next. If you
want to install them later, use MDAC_TYP.exe and msxml4.exe in the
Support folder of the installation file.
Select "install Microsoft MDAC 2.8" in the dialog box and click
Next to install MDAC 2.8 which is a standard components
installation program for Windows and can be installed by following
hints.
- When you have completed installing MDAC 2.8 and other support
software, a window to choose hardware keys will pop up and ask you
to install the license configuration. AvisMap GIS 5 provides three
types of protection which are stand-alone key, network key, and
license file. Select the key that you got from AvisMap Corporation
to finish the installation or click Cancel to exit the license
installation.
Please refer to License Manager for details about the license installation
of AvisMap GIS 5.
- Finally, when completed installation, please click Finish in
the pop up dialog box to complete installation of AvisMap Deskpro
5.
